An experiential learning initiative for young learners
The Green Pacific Global Care Foundation (GPGCF), in collaboration with a partner school, organised Project Dosti, an experiential learning initiative for young learners aged 4–7 years at the Assam Rifles Dog Training Centre, Jorhat, Assam.

The initiative was designed to take learning beyond the classroom and introduce children to an environment filled with valuable lessons in discipline, teamwork, courage, care and service. During the visit, the children witnessed the remarkable training of service dogs and observed the unique bond of trust and cooperation between the dogs and their handlers.
Through curiosity, interaction and observation, the experience became a memorable learning journey that helped young learners understand the importance of kindness, responsibility and caring for animals, while also appreciating the dedication and service of the personnel who train and work alongside them.
Why We Are Doing It
Children learn best when they are given opportunities to experience, explore and engage with the world beyond the classroom. However, during the early years, learning often remains centred around books, classrooms and structured activities, with limited exposure to the people, communities and experiences that shape the world around them.
GPGCF believes that education is a powerful tool for empowerment and that meaningful learning must extend beyond academic knowledge. From an early age, children need opportunities to develop curiosity, confidence and empathy, while understanding important values such as discipline, teamwork, courage, responsibility and service.
Project Dosti was conceived with this vision. By creating an opportunity for children aged 4–7 years to interact with the Assam Rifles and visit the Dog Training Centre, the initiative introduced them to an environment beyond their everyday experiences and allowed them to observe dedication, teamwork and responsibility in action.
Through experiential opportunities such as Project Dosti, GPGCF seeks to nurture young minds that are curious to explore, compassionate towards others and confident in their ability to understand, appreciate and contribute meaningfully to the world around them.
